Today's Tip 1/30/10
ORGANIZE and REVIEW
1. When cutting your coupons, organize them into piles that match your organizational strategy.
2. Before putting them away, take out the coupons from your case and review what is currently in there. This is a great time to CHECK EXPIRATION DATES and CLEAN OUT those that have expired.
3. Add your new coupons to your case.

Today's Tip 1/28/10
HOW TO SAVE ON MEAT:
Many meat items will have coupons right on the packaging because the sell by date has just arrived or is fast approaching.
Do a quick walk through of your meat department and look for these kinds of coupons. Then, you can build meals off of the meat that is the best deal!
or
If you have extra freezer space: pick up the item that is discounted and just throw it in the freezer for later.

Today's Tip 1/26/10
Got Coupons??
Inquiring about coupons can save you MEGA BUCKS!
Ask at Customer Service (or the register) if there are any store coupons/MFCs available.
-There may have been a mailing or a flyer that you didn't receive that they will apply to your purchases.
At pharmacies like CVS and Walgreens, ask at the "Beauty Counter" (station or register in the beauty section). Those drawers are FILLED with coupons and FREE SAMPLES!!
Ask an employee if there is a "Coupon Station" or if there is an area in the store where coupons can be found.
NOT ASKING COULD COST YOU!!

To get discounts on products you regularly use/enjoy...
Check out the company/product website.
They may have coupons available on the site. If not, you could sign up for an email* mailing in which coupons could be sent to you.
*If you don't have one yet, create a new email account (yahoo, gmail, hotmail, etc.) that you will use strictly for coupons/mailings like these.

Today's Tip 1/23/10
1. Some retailers will allow you to use double coupons, meaning you can present 2 coupons for 1 item.
This is usually the case when the retailer provides a store coupon. You can use the store coupon with a MFC. Also, if the retailer presented a coupon in their ad, they will allow you to use both that coupon and your MFC. Store Coupon Books are usually found at the entrance.
STOP & SHOP, SHAW'S, WHOLE FOODS, RITE AID, CVS, and WALGREENS* all allow this.
* At Walgreens, you can't have more coupons than items purchasing. For example if you are buying 1 item, you can ONLY have 1 coupon.
In my neck of the woods, I know that STOP & SHOP and SHAW'S SUPERMARKETS will double MFCs under $1.00 (except some MFCs that say Not Subject to Doubling- however, often times they still do).
Ex: MFC for $.50 off will be doubled to equal $1 off
You can easily find out if a retailer doubles coupons and what their policy is, i.e. double coupon day, values... Just ask at Customer Service or at the register.

Today's Tip 1/21/10
If they don't have it... Get a RAINCHECK!
Most retailers- specifically pharmacies and supermarkets- will give you a raincheck on an item if the run out (unless it was in the ad as While Supplies Last). This allows you to get the item for the sale price at a later date.
Be sure to ask when the raincheck expires.
Some rainchecks never expire, so I hold on to them until I have a coupon for the item!
